The past four decades of the Co-op’s experience is examined alongside a description of vibrant community legal campaigns to improve living conditions. National housing policy is placed in context, as is the recent tragedy of the Grenfell Tower fire. The current housing crisis is nothing new, but lesions can be learnt from the Co-op experience.
